Acura ZDX prices revealed - it’s not cheap

Acura is finally entering the electric car market with its first-ever electric vehicle, the Acura ZDX. While Acura enthusiasts might be thrilled about this electrifying debut, the pricing announcement has raised some eyebrows. Starting at $64,500 for the entry-level A-Spec RWD trim, the Acura ZDX doesn't come cheap but prospective buyers can already place their orders online, aligning with Acura's digitalization campaign.

In comparison, the Cadillac Lyriq, which shares the same GM Ultium EV architecture as the ZDX, offers a more budget-friendly Tech trim priced at $58,590. If affordability is a top priority, the Genesis GV60 starts at $52,000 and the Tesla Model Y looks like a real bargain at $43,990. Acura might need to sweeten the deal further, considering the competitive landscape in the electric car market.

The A-Spec RWD version of this EV packs a punch with 340 horsepower, making it no slouch on the road. While the AWD variant is expected to offer a bit more power, exact figures remain undisclosed but Acura will make sure the AWD model won’t step on the toes of the 500-hp powerhouse found in the sportier ZDX Type S.

One of the ZDX's notable features is its ability to charge rapidly. With a DC fast charger, the sizable 102-kWh lithium-ion battery pack in the A-Spec RWD version can provide up to 81 miles of range in just 10 minutes. This quick charging capability ensures that ZDX owners can get back on the road swiftly, making long journeys more convenient.

To help the new owners with the transition to an electric vehicle, Acura is also offering a range of home charging packages - the $100 option buys a level 2 home charging station and a $500 installation credit, while the $300 option includes a portable charging kit and a $250 installation credit.

Acura ZDX comes standard with Google built-in software, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. What's more, the ZDX is the first-ever Acura to feature Bang & Olufsen audio, which will eventually be rolled out across the entire Acura lineup.

The top-of-the-range Acura ZDX Type S comes equipped with height-adjustable air suspension, adaptive dampers, and substantial 15.6 inches Brembo front brakes with six-piston calipers painted in bright yellow. The Type S trim also adds massive 22-inch machine-finished wheels, the largest ever seen on an Acura vehicle, fitted with 275/40ZR22 self-sealing tires.

Potential buyers will have to exercise patience, as Acura plans to begin deliveries of the all-electric ZDX in early spring 2024. The pricing of the ZDX may deter budget-conscious consumers when more affordable alternatives are available. While the ZDX promises impressive charging capabilities, advanced technology, and a sportier Type S trim, Acura will need to carefully consider its pricing strategy to compete effectively in the highly competitive EV market.
