Indian ride-hailing firm BluSmart Electric Mobility and Tata Motors announced a deal for 10,000 Tata XPRES-T EV cars to join BluSmart's fleet, making it by far the largest EV fleet order in India.
The 10,000 cars will complement a previous 3,500 XPRES-T EVs BluSmart ordered back in October 2021.
The Tata XPRES-T EV is a compact electric sedan with two battery options - a 16.5kWh with 165km (ARAI) of range, and a 21.5kWh with up to 213km (ARAI) of range. The XPRES-T EV can go from 0% to 80% in 90 min, or 110 min, depending on the battery size.
Tata claims an 87% market share in India in fiscal 2022, with over 25,000 EVs on the road. BluSmart, on the other hand, offers an all-electric cab service in and around Delhi and its drivers have done some 1.6 million trips.
Tata hasn't shared a timeframe for the delivery of the 10,000 cars.
