IM Motors shared a short video clip of a prototype car, based on the L6, showing an impressive parallel parking tech. The car does the crabwalk and easily fits into the tightest parking spots.
There's not much explanation of how the tech works, but it has something to do with IM Motors' four-wheel steering system found on the L6 model. It can pivot the rear wheels along with the front ones, allowing the car to turn in place. The system then applies precise torque control to move the car smoothly sideways.
The clip looks a bit surreal and some people call it CGI, but we will refrain from an early verdict. If IM Motors is able to implement that into its future models, it's going to be a game-changer.
According to the report, the current implementation of the system in the IM L6 can move the car across three axes at six degrees and reduce the required parking space by 11%. The new parallel parking feature shown on the clip will surely improve that even further.
