Mercedes announced its fully electric eActros 600 semi truck designed for long-haul trips back in September 2022 and is now starting its mass production at the Worth plant in Bavaria. It's the company's first electric truck to be produced on a single production line, unlike the eActros 300 and 400 models, which are assembled in a different facility.
The eActros 600 is fitted with a 600+ kWh battery and paired with Mercedes' in-house efficient electric drive, which can go for more than 620 miles per day, even without accesss to fast-charging. Just normal charging during the legally prescribed driver breaks is all it takes. The truck is good for around 311 miles on a single charge.
If paired with one of Mercedes' 1 MW charging stations, the battery can go from 20 to 80% in just 30 minutes. Mercedes will start building those charging points across Europe.
The eActros 600 semi is expected to hit the highways in Q1 2025, as the first deliveries will commence during that period. Full-on mass production will begin soon after.
