Well, Citroen accomplished three weel driving fifty years ago with analog hydraulics. I think that once in a WRC rally one Citroen driver had only three weels in the finnish. DS was probably the first model with this driving functionality. There are quite many videos of it in Youtube.
The technology was actually developed 30 years ago, by Amar Gopal Bose (the MIT professor who founded the Bose Corporation that made a name for itself with its high quality speakers).
For example, look up a 15 year old video on YouTube named "Bose Active Suspension," which shows a 1994 Lexus LS400 remain completely level during hard cornering, mitigate all bounce due to bumps in the road, and even "hop" over an obstacle in the road, by retracting its front and rear sets of wheels by probably a foot or more, without slowing down.
