In the earlier years, I believe people were not considering EV's are reliable and useable, now they've seen EV's in action.
In general, EV's have huge advantages in terms of:
NVH levels,
ride quality,
ease of driving (gearless),
running costs,
service costs,
maintenance possibility, etc.
What works against them is fear of being stranded, charging times, fear of fire seeing the recent incidents, feel of gasoline engine, etc.

Overall, it is now a better deal for the long term. Only purists, people on budget and enthusiasts will prefer gasoline vehicles, and I believe all those are (granted, a big) minority now.
