No one forced them to manufacture anything in China, they could have chosen a different country, so It's their fault If China acquired anything from them.
You talk about EU giving them the taste of their own medicine, but I don't remember China putting tariffs on western imports. If It was about that like you claim, then EU would require Chinese companies to make joint ventures in EU to sell their products there.
"One of the most infamous cases of China wanting trade secrets and know-how is when Bank of America acquired some small Chinese financial branch in a much bigger deal. Chinese government demanded Bank of America to give them access to all of their business practices as well as finances in order to keep the ownership of that small Chinese company. They sad FU to Chinese government and sold the company to someone else."
BofA by merging with Merrill Lynch acquired a 9.9% stake in China Construction Bank Corp (CCB), which was originally bought in 2005 for $3 billion.
BofA sold the last stocks in In September 2013 and they gained $16.37 billion in total from the sale.
So much for your conspiracy about them not wanting to give Chinese "know-how" about their business practices, which is certainly not worth billions and giving them a F***YOU by selling It to someone else.

Do you know why Chinese phones are so widespread as they are? Because of Apple. In order for Apple to make a cheap manufacturing line in China they had to give up all the blueprints and know-how to Chinese government. Every single western company that wanted to build a manufacturing in China had to surrender blueprints, financial reports and bunch of other things to Chinese government, Exact same thing has happened to 3G tech from Ericsson and others who did business in China, that's how China caught up in mobile communication tech race. Ericsson and others had to partner up with Chinese companies in order to deploy 3G technology and they had to surrender bunch of paperwork.

*At the heart of the dispute is the EC's determination that SAIC received subsidies amounting to 37.6% on its EVs.* Would be fair (haha) to impose this on the EU manufacturers the same way :D
How does it work really?
Is the additional tax on SAIC made in EU? SAIC made in africa? SAIC made in Americas? SAIC made in middle east? Only made in china?
What about VW made in china? Also taxed?
What is justification for different taxing for different importers?
I do understand that EU car manufacturers, same as the one in china or usa live on government subsidies and do not need to actually sell any cars. Which shows in what they produce, but details about that taxing would be interesting just for the laughs about so called capitalism etc.
Ah, I see now. The PLA paid trolls are here for any mention of China.
So sad. No one is going to believe your propaganda.

From car sales? It wasn't even so hard, right? Yet you already went the route that the money was from the government.
Then there is the other question, why would It matter, even If the government sponsored their manufacturers? Who says they can't do that? If you say because western countries don't do that then that's a lie.
Anonymous, 07 Jul 2024No. Your grasp of history seems rather weak.what version of history are you referring to.

The Chinese government funnels cash through government controlled companies into those they want to promote as a national asset.
