we do business with both china/east asia and eu countries.
europe experiencing economic contraction is also bad news for us.
not to mention, so many 'others' are cheering for the downfall of china.
that would be a disaster for my country.

The best thing ever, until they started to lose the advantage in technological know-how and being expensive for production was another disadvantage. Also financial crisis in 2007/08 and Covid showed disadvantages of everything being interconnected.
Now China is on the rise and that's a problem.
China being a communist country is not important, even If the media and politicians claim that. Even If China had democracy or It was India, It would still be the same. USA doesn't want to lose their dominant position, that's all.
Not sure how exactly would a trade war EU vs China affect Vietnam.

It's kinda surprising how countries voted.
I could understand Germany, Slovakia and Hungary regardless If they voted for or against.
I can also understand Poland, France and Italy voting for tariffs, although France could get hurt in the luxury goods sector, for which China is a very important market.
The rest of those who voted for tariffs I don't understand, Chinese imports wouldn't really affect them, they would get an option to buy cheaper cars as an advantage. So what was the reason?

Everyone cares about their country first and maybe to some limited degree with the neighbor one.
Being selfish would be If you didn't care about your country.
But this article is not really about geopolitics.
I don't know If It is really a good idea to have an option to abstain like in this tariff case.
5 countries were against, 10 for and 12 abstained.
What, they didn't want to anger Germany or China, but still knew that the vote will pass, so It was safe to abstain?

Yes, the biggest car manufacturer in EU(Germany) was against It.
Most of the 10 countries for additional tariffs were countries which don't have any car plants.
And actually the biggest number of countries(12) abstained.

VW was the most sold brand in China last year, actually It sold more cars there than in EU, It was 2,495,337, in Germany they sold only 521,646.
So stop acting like It doesn't matter. BTW, who said it will have an impact only on the car industry? You can't be that naive that China won't counterattack in other sectors.

Talking about job loss is ridiculous when EU companies are producing and importing parts to EU for decades, because It's cheaper.
And these tariffs If I am not mistaken will also negatively affect EU factories, if some parts are produced in China.

So much for saving jobs in EU.
