The fact, that the base model will NOT be equiped with DC charging is literally a childish play of management to have the price "from 25k€"... The really usable model (the middle one with smaller battery but WITH DC charging) will start IMO at 27-28k€ which does not make much sense if you can find competition citroen e-C3 with (slightly) bigger battery and WITH DC charging as standard for 4k€ cheaper... Some people might argue that r5 is much more funcy and premium look, and I would normally agree cause I really like the design of r5, but if you want to sell to masses, the basic math of ratio "value for your money" will make imo those (dumb) managers sad at the end...

Renault press materials say that the battery is liquid cooled, so it's probably a mistake on ArenaEV's part.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2024I don't understand why all European mid sized Evs have air cooled battery, they can make ... moreAir cooled is the cheapest option, this is why. Keeping the price down in EU is difficult, especially in the lowest possible price segment.
I don't understand why all European mid sized Evs have air cooled battery, they can make them water-cooled for better safety against fire hazard since drawing 110kW from a battery pack of 52kWh, the battery will discharge at 2.12C with can raise battery's NTP temperature rating and can cause fire hazard.
