Despite only first testing mules being built, Rolls-Royce is already taking orders for the Spectre - full blood EV to be introduced towards the end of 2023. This “RollsRoyce 3.0” has some serious shoes to fill and comes with already mind-boggling numbers attached to it - 7km of cables running across the car, one thousand (!!!) high-level functions with 25,000 sub-functions and 141,200 send-receive functions with tolerance of 25 milliseconds. All that to achieve perfect performance, luxury and silence.
One of the Spectre test vehiclesThe testing has begun, it will take 2 years, 2.5 million kilometers and 30 prototype vehicles, it will take the new Rolls-Royce from Arctic Circle to Dubai and all possible environments along the way. When all the tests are completed and the engineers signed off on all of the tiniest of the details - we will have the newest Spectre ready to step into the light.
It will be positioned to replace the Wraith coupe and Dawn convertible since RR is no longer taking orders for those, despite being larger at over 5 meters in length. It will sit comfortably just under the Phantom that was last seen in 2016 and it will most likely fill that gap with customers snapping up pre orders like hot buns.
Wrath and Dawn are no longer availableRolls-Royce is stressing that this is not just simply “electric Rolls”, no - this is a fully blown next level luxury and performance vehicle with dedicated design built from ground up. RR could have just taken an existing model and fit it with batteries and electric motors from BMW but that wouldn’t do for Rolls-Royce.
The Spectre will be powered by a 700kg battery that will use cobalt and lithium sourced from certified mines in Morocco and Austria, it will have two motors running all four 23” wheels and that’s all we know for now.

The manufacturer is hard at work developing aerodynamic packages for the car that will reduce the wind noise, they are working closely with tyre companies to make the Spectre roll even quieter. Rolls-Royce is famous for how quiet the cars are - can you imagine this one? It’ll be like sitting in a deep, comfy chair in a log cabin in the middle of woods, with no wind, no birds and not even a fly making a sound. The engineers have their work cut out for them that’s for sure and that’s why they take 2 years of testing before releasing the car to the market.
Spectre testing in SwedenWe can safely speculate that the Spectre will use BMW motors and battery, most likely from the i7 M60 or iX M60 with at least 620hp and 1,100Nm of torque, we would love to see Rolls-Royce improve on those numbers of course. Agreed - it's like trying to make a house aerodynamic... but still, it'll be one heck of a car
although it will be massive engineering features, when on the move, why must insist on quiet ??? if one wants quiet, then, stay at home, which is also not so quiet
