Geometry is a brand owned by Geely that focuses purely on electric cars and it just unveiled two new models - the M6 medium-sized SUV and an electric sedan G6. For the first time Geely and Huawei worked together and the result is the digital cockpit and full suite of functions and services provided by HarmonyOS.
HarmonyOS is designed to seamlessly connect with mobile phones and offer an uninterrupted experience. The software offers enhanced integration of the phone with the vehicle with the car becoming almost an extension of the phone itself.
Certain solutions sound obvious, but actually no other automaker quite matches them - take navigation. Planning a route at home and then jumping in the car automatically activates the sat-nav in the vehicle without any additional steps required - properly seamless experience.
Geometry G6 sedan is available in two versions - standard with 53kWh battery and long-range with 70kWh battery. The larger battery gives the car CLTC range of 620km and the smaller pack comes with a 480km range on the same testing cycle.
The 4.75m long electric sedan starts at $20,600 at current exchange rates for the base model with the local subsidies included in price. The long-range version starts at $23,430.
The slightly shorter M6 SUV measures 4.43 meters in length and it is offered with identical batteries - 53kWh in the standard range model and 70kWh in the long-range version. The CLTC-quoted ranges are 450km and 580km, respectively.
The prices are rather attractive with the base model starting at just over $20,600 and the long-range model asking for $23,430 - again all versions qualify for full tax incentives. This simplified pricing policy makes customer’s choice a little bit easier - regardless whether it’s an SUV or a sedan, both cars in equal trims cost the same.
Similarities don't end there - both the G6 and M6 use the same powertrains and have identical performance figures. The electric motor used in both the cars has 150kW of maximum power (201hp) and 310Nm of torque. Both cars accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 6.9 seconds and both reach a top speed of 150km/h.
Geometry has been posting encouraging sales results - so far this year the company sold 116,822 vehicles and in October alone it delivered 12,570 electric cars to its customers. It has 4 other models already on sale, ranging from small crossovers to medium sedans and SUVs.
Oh, they will, a lot of car manufacturers will learn, sadly the hard way. EV market exploded with brands, and the same way it will implode in the future, leaving only a "few" brands that managed transition into a working business with pro...
