China's electric vehicle scene just got a little bit more exciting with the recent launch of the updated Neta X SUV.
The updated Neta X is available in four variants, each with a lower starting price compared to its predecessor. The base model, which was initially priced at RMB 126,800, now sits at a far more attractive RMB 89,800 (approximately $12,500). The remaining variants follow suit, with big price reductions across the board. It's a brave move, and it positions the Neta X as an attractive option for budget-conscious EV enthusiasts.
Despite the lower price tag Neta also brought a number of upgrades. The most significant change is the enlarged 15.6-inch center screen, a substantial improvement from the previous 10.1-inch display. In the power department, the Neta X continues to use a permanent magnet synchronous motor generating 120 kW of power and 162 lb-ft of torque.
The entry-level model, equipped with a 53.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, promises a CLTC range of 249 miles. The other variants, featuring a larger 63.5 kWh LFP battery pack, extend this range to a respectable 311 miles. We need to remember that this range is based on the optimistic CLTC standard, and real-world results will vary.
The SUV retains the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 cockpit chip and dimensions of 181.9 inches in length, 73.2 inches in width, and 64.1 inches in height.
The company's decision to slash prices on the Neta X comes at a time when its sales offer a mixed performance. While July deliveries saw a 9.72% year-on-year increase, reaching 11,015 vehicles, the year-to-date figures indicate a 10.59% decline compared to the previous year. Will the refreshed and more affordable Neta X improve the company's sales momentum? As always, time will provide the answers.
