Voyah, the luxury division of Chinese state-owned Dongfeng Motor Corporation and a rising star in the electric vehicle market, has just unveiled its latest creation, the Zhiyin. Designed as the brand's first "world car," the Zhiyin is a fully electric SUV built on Dongfeng's Electric Smart Secure Architecture (ESSA) and promises to deliver a substantial range of up to 560 miles.
The Zhiyin is the fourth model in the Voyah lineup and features the brand's signature design. It is instantly recognizable by its through-type lights at both the front and rear, integrated with the Voyah logo. The SUV measures 186 inches in length, 74.8 inches in width, and 64.4 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 114.2 inches. That's just a smidgen smaller than the Tesla Model Y.
Inside, the Zhiyin offers a luxurious and tech-savvy environment. A large dashboard-mounted screen takes center stage, complemented by a smaller instrument panel and a head-up display. Frameless doors and generous use of leather enhance the premium feel. The SUV is also equipped with Huawei's smart cockpit and smart driving system.
The Zhiyin comes in both single and dual-motor configurations. The rear-wheel-drive versions offer a choice of 215 kW or 230 kW electric motors, paired with either a 77 kWh battery for a 388 miles range or a {{109 kWh}} battery for the headline-grabbing 560 miles range. The dual-motor version features a 160 kW motor on each axle and a 77 kWh battery, providing a range of 354 miles. All range figures are based on the notoriously optimistic CLTC testing.
Thanks to the latest 800V architecture platform and 5C charging capability, the Zhiyin can apparently regain 320 miles of range in just 15 minutes. Of course, real-life performance will depend on the condition of the battery, ambient temperature, and suitable DC charger. Still, this kind of charging speed makes the Zhiyin a great choice for long journeys.
Pricing details are yet to be revealed, but it can't be long now as deliveries are expected to commence in China before the end of the year. The Zhiyin is said to be a key component of Voyah's ambitious "Let's Voyah" strategy, which aims to expand the brand's presence to 60 countries across six continents, with annual sales reaching 500,000 units by 2030.
