BMW has just reported on its EV sales numbers for the first half of this year, and it's very good news for the German company. EV sales jumped 34.1% compared to the first half of 2023.
In its press release celebrating the accomplishment, BMW says it "outperformed its traditional competitors and managed to significantly gain market share in Europe", "despite a challenging market environment".
BMW sold a total of 179,557 fully electric vehicles in the first six months, of which 107,933 were sold during the second quarter (April to June). The Q2 number represents a 22.2% increase in sales over the same quarter last year.
Please note that throughout this article when we've referred to BMW we were talking about BMW Group, not the brand - so these sales numbers also include Mini, Rolls-Royce, and BMW M.
