AITO is the automotive brand of Huawei and Seres and it officially unveiled its second model, the M7 in July. The first test drives were offered to customers from the last week of July and already the first cars are being delivered. The launch was a runaway success with over 10,000 vehicles ordered in the first two hours.
This isn’t a cheap or a small SUV, the prices start at nearly $48,000 for the entry level model and go up all the way to nearly $57,000 for the top of the range, Ultimate version. AITO M7 is a luxury, 6 seat SUV with an impressive range and a long list of standard equipment.

There is no number of deliveries confirmed at the moment but the company assured the deliveries will begin gradually across other cities. AITO has more than 700 customer experience centers scattered across 171 cities in China and the company plans to have 1,200 centers open by the end of 2022.
First customers had their cars delivered by Huawei and Seres officialsAITO M7 is not a pure EV - it is designated as EREV in China, an extended range electric vehicle. It means that apart from electric motors and large battery, it has a petrol range extender. Unlike PHEV vehicles, the gasoline engine is not connected to the drivetrain and it purely acts as a generator that recharges the batteries.
Thanks to that simple idea, the AITO M7 boasts a 1,000 km range. We could argue that a Golf TDi would comfortably get 1,000 km out of its diesel tank but the difference between the two cars is huge - the M7 is over 5 meters long and it weighs nearly 2.4 metric tons. With the combustion engine running at its most efficient level the emissions are much lower than in comparable PHEV - according to the company.
