Geely Group has thrown down the gauntlet with its latest offering, the Zeekr 007. This sleek premium sedan offers a stylish design and impressive range. The Chinese governmental regulator MIIT unveiled the specifics of its powertrain, promising a driving experience few can match.
The NEV (New Energy Vehicle) brand Zeekr under Geely Group, was launched in 2021 and has been gradually expanding its presence in China, Central Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Its initial offering, the Zeekr 001, just recently begun deliveries in the Netherlands, and now, the 007 is ready to join the ranks as the third vehicle in the lineup, following the 001, 009, and X models.
According to the Chinese regulator, the Zeekr 007 will be available in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants, boasting power outputs of 310 kW (415 hp) and 475 kW (636 hp), respectively.
What truly makes the Zeekr 007 stand out is its battery. The sedan will come equipped with two options: a 75.6-kWh LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery and a formidable 100-kWh ternary NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) pack.
The range these batteries offer is nothing short of impressive, going from 428 miles to an astonishing 541 miles, depending on the powertrain configuration. A healthy dose of skepticism is highly advised when it comes to those numbers - they are supplied by the notoriously optimistic CLTC testing regime. Nevertheless, the range will be nothing short of impressive.
Here's a quick breakdown of the available powertrain options:
Zeekr 007 | power output | battery | range |
---|---|---|---|
RWD | 310 kW (415 hp) | 75.6 kWh LFP | 428 miles |
RWD Long Range | 310 kW (415 hp) | 100 kWh NMC | 541 miles |
AWD | 475 kW (636 hp) | 100 kWh NMC | 478 miles |
It's worth noting that the Chinese regulator initially exposed the AWD version of the Zeekr 007 with a 75.6-kWh LFP battery in November. However, this particular version didn't make it to the final lineup.
The Zeekr 007 is a mid-size sedan similar in dimensions to the XPeng P7, measuring 191.5 inches/74.8 inches/57.1 inches with a wheelbase of 115.3 inches. Its design language, masterfully crafted by Stefan Sielaff and the Zeekr Design Center team in Gothenburg, Sweden, exudes a modern and sleek aesthetic. Inside, the Zeekr 007 boasts a 15.05-inch screen powered by Kr GPT AI and a Snapdragon 8295 chip from Qualcomm, promising a high-tech and engaging driving experience.
For those eager to get their hands on this compelling EV, Geely is offering four trim levels: WE RWD, ME RWD, ME AWD, and YOU AWD. The pricing is equally appealing, with a wide range spanning from RMB224,900 to RMB334,900 ($31,700 to $47,200). Chinese consumers will be able to purchase the Zeekr 007 starting in January 2024, and the vehicle is expected to make its way to the Kazakhstan market later in the same year, potentially followed by a European debut.
that's a huge overstatement about Europes infrastructure! may be valid for west and central Europe, but once you go east of Austria & Germany(maybe Poland, not sure) then it gets way thinner with the charging infrastructure. In many cases yo...
