After launching in its home country of Vietnam last month, the VinFast VF3 EV is about to make a debut in the Philippines. The company's extremely affordable EV, going for just VND 235 million ($9,250) for the subscription-based model, will soon be hitting the streets of the Philippines, but at a higher price.
The subscription-based scheme will give you the VF3 for PHP 605,000 ($32,000), while the full package (with battery ownership) will set you back PHP 705,000 ($36,900), but only if you place your order between September 19-30. After that, prices will go up to PHP 645,000 ($33,800) and PHP 745,000 ($39,000), respectively.
For those unaware, the battery subscription scheme reduces the upfront cost of the vehicle, but incurs monthly fees. VinFast keeps ownership of the battery and while the customer gets a subscription plan for as long as they keep the vehicle.
The subscription plan for the battery depends on how much you travel each month. For less than 932 miles, the monthly cost is PHP 2,800 ($146), for 932 miles - 1,553 miles is PHP 3,800 ($200) and anything above 1,553 miles will set you back PHP 6,300 ($330) each month.
During the promo period, customers have the chance to choose between nine color options free of charge, which usually costs PHP 20,000 ($1,000).
The actual launch date hasn't been confirmed yet but the VinFast is expected to begin shipments soon after the promo period ends - sometime in October.
