Nio initially unveiled its luxury executive sedan ET9 a year ago, and now it's only three days away from officially launching. To drum up some hype, the brand has shared some new images of the car, which you can see throughout this article.
The ET9 will get its full introduction during the company's Nio Day 2024 event which is taking place on December 21. The ET9 is Nio's most expensive car yet, starting at CNY 800,000 ($110,000) during pre-sales. Deliveries will start in the first quarter of next year, so before the end of March.
The ET9 will mark the debut of Nio's self-developed Shenji autonomous driving chip, manufactured on a 5nm process. The sedan comes with the SkyRide intelligent chassis which can move up and down a lot, thus providing a very comfortable ride regardless of road conditions.
The ET9 is also the first mass-produced vehicle in China to get permission to use steer-by-wire (SBW) technology. Nio is participating in an effort to develop a national Chinese standard for SBW.

At Nio Day 2024, the company will also officially launch its third brand, Firefly. This follows Nio itself and the recently introduced Onvo. The Nio brand will cater to price points above CNY 300,000 ($41,000), Onvo fills the CNY 200,000 ($27,500) to CNY 300,000 ($41,000) segment, while Firefly will be the cheapest brand in the stable, aiming to sell cars priced between CNY 100,000 ($14,000) and CNY 200,000 ($27,500).
Firefly's first model, which is probably going to be showcased at the Nio Day 2024 event, is expected to cost around CNY 150,000 ($20,500).
