Volvo teases all-electric EM90 minivan ahead of 2024 launch

Volvo

it's not just a rumor anymore - Volvo is indeed planning to release a fully electric EM90 minivan. Then again, it was probably innevitable seeing that Zeekr, which is another Geely-owned company that uses the same SEA platform as Volvo, has already released its Zeekr 009 MPV in China.

Volve teases an all-electric minivan called EM90, to launch next year

In fact, the teaser shows a lot of familiar design elements. The sunroof for the passengers on the back, along with the door handles, side mirrors and the antenna, look like they are taken straight from the Zeekr 009. However, the taillights are more in Volvo style.

At first glance, the EM90 seems to be big enough to house a three-row seating and has sliding back doors. If the powertrain is identical to the Zeekr's (they will likely be based on the same SEA platform for EVs), we can expect a dual-motor setup with 534 hp output and 140 kWh battery while a more affordable version of the Zeekr 009 runs on a single rear-mounted motor and 116 kWh battery.

The Volvo EM90 will get an official announcement on November 12 this year, with a launch scheduled for 2024. Pre-orders for the Chinese market will open on the same day.
