Do you remember the time travel paradox? The possibility of meeting the other you and all the related consequences? Well, the time travel might be real because the paradox did happen - we have two all-new DeLoreans. Not sure about the consequences though - at least not yet.
John Zachary DeLorean was the guy we owe the gratitude for the DMC12 with all of its quirks and faults and movie appearances. The company went through some turbulent times and DeLorean Parts was built on what was left of it, but then it went bust as well.
What followed was another company called DeLorean Motors who bought up most of the previous businesses, with blueprints, naming rights and tooling. This company brought us the DeLorean Alpha5 - the glorious 4-seat electric GT with a giant gullwing door.
But that’s just half of the story. Daughter of the one and only John Z. DeLorean - Kat DeLorean - was never happy about the manner in which the deal went down and the direction of the new business. It seems she had about enough of the shenanigans and she’s launching her own business under the family name DeLorean. The new company is called DNG Motors - DeLorean Next Generation Motors - and here is its first creation, the claimed true heir to the DeLorean legacy.
The details are not available yet, the car doesn’t even have a name but clearly a substantial amount of time went into the design of it. The new company chose Detroit as its base - naturally - and according to Kat herself, the team will consist of some of the top automotive minds and some of the original team who created the iconic DMC12.
DNG Motors plans to be a “new kind” of mobility company, something that apparently the automotive industry haven’t seen before. The company wants to focus on people and it wants to give back to society. Making cars will be just one part of the business, there will be engineering courses for high school students and there will be partnerships with other manufacturers.
DNG Motors feels really strong about its roots and it denounces DeLorean Motor Company, the one responsible for Alpha 5. There seems to be a lot of animosity between the two and it's understandable - on one side we have the daughter of the legend, on the other we have a pure business. It’s a tricky situation because cars always have and always will evoke emotions.
Let’s hope the cars will do the talking, let’s hope the trash-talk turns into actual wheels on the tarmac and that any disputes will be settled with customers’ wallets. Last year we didn’t have any DeLoreans, now we have two - and the world is a much better place because of that. Both cars look stunning, both will appeal to different people. Put all animosities aside and build some cars!
If the price dont cross 10 000 euros its an instant buy for me. Since litterary any car can move me from point A to point B anything more expensive is just money flushed into toilet. No thanks.
Does it come with a Mr fusion reactor and a flux capacitor? also it would be great if it already has the hover convertion done
