Ladies and gentlemen, the millionth Tesla Model Y competitor has arrived! This one is from BYD, and it's been unveiled, in concept form, at the Shanghai Auto Show mere hours ago, after having been teased last week.
Meet the BYD Song L. This is described by its maker as a B-class EV, and it uses BYD's e-platform 3.0 and has cell-to-body battery packs, while the battery itself is an LFP Blade one.
The Song L is going to properly launch as a production model in the second half of the year. The price is expected to be around CNY 300,000 ($43,630 converted), which is actually a tad more than the car it's supposed to compete with - the Model Y starts at CNY 261,900 ($38,089 converted).
Not all the details about the Song L are out yet, but what we do know is that it comes with frameless doors, an electric rear spoiler, electronic mirrors (which will be allowed in China starting on July 1), the new DiSus-A body control system for the air suspensions, and four-wheel drive. Dimensions are still a mystery, along with everything else about this car. So stay tuned for the upcoming announcement of the production model when we'll hopefully have a lot more to go by.
already expected to be 15% more expensive... but looks 100 times better on the outside. no pictures from the inside for now but keeping in mind that tesla has a verry boring look inside. hand will be removing all stocks for the 2024 model ...
