Although it may seem a bit on the larger side of things, the new electric Jeep Avenger is actually smaller than the current Renegade. The company designed it specifically for the European market and apparently it is more capable than its bigger sibling. The car will go on sale next year and the order book is already open.
The new Jeep Avenger is based on Stellantis’ new version of its ECMP platform. The current version is used on electric and combustion versions of VAuxhall Mokka and DS 3 Crossback. The smallest Jeep will benefit from a high ground clearance, large trunk and apparently the best breakover and approach angles in the segment.
The car gets its energy from the 54 kWH battery pack designed and built by Stellantis. The official WLTP range is 400 km (249 miles) but the company claims that in urban driving conditions, the Avenger can deliver as much as 550 km or 342 miles. Both the battery and the electric motor use the new 400 V architecture which results in decent charging times - 20% to 80% SoC takes only 24 minutes when using 100 kW DC charger. Home charging at 11 kW AC takes 5.5 hours from 0 to 100%.
The long-range electric Avenger will be powered by a front mounted electric motor with 115 kW (156 HP) and 260 Nm of torque. The 4x4 version was supposed to be powered by two of those but Stellantis and Jeep did not confirm that in the official press release. According to that press release, the Avenger is a first front-wheel drive Jeep to be equipped with the full Selec-Terrain system and Hill Descent Control - no 4x4 version then?
Thanks to the full Selec-Terrain system, the Avenger comes with six driving modes - Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow, Mud and Sand. The ground clearance is a decent 200 mm and with 20 degree approach angle and 32 degree departure angle, the car seems to be quite capable in off-road situations. Add to it 4,08m length and it can fit in some tight spots - not only in the city.
Despite its rather small dimensions, the Avenger offers 380 liters of cargo space at the back and an additional 34 liters in the front. All versions of the car will come with the 10.25 inch central display and 7 inch digital instrument cluster for the driver. Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are on board and navigation is provided by TomTom. Through the Jeep Mobile App, the owners can control the climate control, charging, locking and unlocking of the car.
Level 2 autonomous driving offers Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering - commonly known as lane-keep assist. There is a full suite of assistance functions with traffic signs recognition, the car will autonomously brake for pedestrians and cyclists, and there is a Drowsy Driver Alert. Active Park Assist will take care of parking and Blind Spot Monitor will keep an eye on those pesky blind-spots.
Starting today and running all the way to November 30, Jeep is taking pre-orders for the Avenger 1st Edition - a fully equipped version of the car, which interestingly enough, in Italy and Spain will come with a turbo-charged petrol engine. The 1st Edition will come in signature Sun paint with Volcano roof or Granite and Volcano color combo. 18” wheels, LED lights front and back, multi-color ambient lights inside and yellow dashboard are part of the limited edition. The digital instrument cluster will be bigger as well - at 10.25 inches it’s equal in size of the center screen.
You mean Opel not Vauxhall...as Opel is more known brand ....and well opel has more manufacturing locations thru the whole Europe. They(stellantis) just rebadge opel to Vauxhall for Uk and Buick for North America and China.
