Ferrari will premiere its first EV in 2025. Its powertrain will be designed, handcrafted, and assembled in a new "e-building" in Maranello, as will its battery pack.
The batteries will be integrated into the chassis of the car, keeping center of weight lower, and increasing rigidity. In a presentation to investors, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said that Ferrari's first EV "will be rooted in our racing heritage and will draw from a broader technical reservoir while preserving all its authenticity and consistency."
Ferrari detailed its plans for becoming carbon-neutral by 2030. It will shift 60% of its lineup to electric and hybrid models by 2026, and dial back pure combustion efforts to 40%.
Ferrari's current lineup is currently split 50% between ICE models and hybrid models. The V8 Roma and V12 8120 Superfast are pure combustion, and the SF90 V8 PHEV, and the V6 PHEV 296 GTB (pictured here).
Ferrari's CEO was adamant that the carmaker's focus on combustion cars will continue. Even in 2030, Ferrari's lineup will feature around 20% ICE models.
Among the 15 new models Ferrari is planning between 2023 and 2026, there's the Prancing Horse's first EV, several in the exclusive Icona series, as well as a flagship 'Supercar' model.
one day, driving a combustion engine car won't be a climate change accelerator but a luxury privilege for the rich.
