BMW teased a new visionary platform slash computer that will power future Neue Klasse vehicles. Called the "Heart of Joy", the computer was showcased in a prototype car BMW calls the Vision Driving Experience - meant as a testbed for BMW's next-gen technology, the prototype will not enter production in this shape.
Back to the "Heart of Joy" - the central computer processes driving information "ten times faster" than previous systems. It takes in data from the drivetrain, brakes, charging, recuperation, and steering, and in tandem with BMW's Dynamic Performance Control software, brings a new level of speed, handling, and precision.
BMW says the Vision prototype develops 18,000 Newton meters (13,269 lb-ft) of torque!
The Vision Driving Experience test vehicle
The cutting-edge test vehicle recently underwent an endurance test in the USA. It brings advanced energy recuperation that's up to 25% more energy efficient, which should translate into a longer range.
