During this year's Auto Shanghai forum, Volkswagen will introduce three new concepts. The company's CEO called them "near-production concepts" and said that all three vehicles will soon be ready to be revealed and launched.
The vehicles in question fall into the NEV (New Energy Vehicle) category in China. The FAW-Volkswagen all-electric hatchback joins a B-segment SUV with a range extender from the SAIC Volkswagen venture, and the third vehicle is a fully electric SUV from Volkswagen Anhui. The company said all three vehicles are part of a new strategy, "In China, for China", in an attempt to maintain leadership, and it has cut production time by more than 30%.
Overall, Volkswagen aims to release over 20 new NEV models in China by 2027, which is an ambitious goal, but the company is forced to keep up with the ever-growing competition, especially in the EV segment.
Volkswagen didn't reveal much in its press release, but it sounds like we will know more about the upcoming three models very soon.
