Pininfarina Battista, the electric Italian twin of the Rimac Nevera, went for a quick visit to India and managed to set two world records. Pininfarina took the Battista recently to Dubai where the car officially became the fastest accelerating production car in the world and scored a few more world records at the same time.
Clearly the team wasn’t finished with the record breaking run and during the latest marketing visit to India and its Natrax test facility in Indore. The all-electric hypercar took only 8.55 seconds to blast through a quarter mile and only 13.38 seconds to get through half a mile. As a result the Battista is officially the fastest accelerating production car in the world over those distances.
As a side note, Battista became the fastest electric car to be ever tested in India, and it scored the title of a fastest car ever driven in India with the 358.03 km/h speed recorded by the editor of Autocar India, Hormazd Sorabjee. During the test run, 0 to 300 km/h sprint time of 10.5 seconds was recorded as well.
The record run wasn’t quite finished though, Autocar India’s Renuka Kirpalani jumped behind the wheel and in another top speed session recorded a blistering 357.1 km/h which instantly made her the world’s fastest Indian woman driver.
While technically both Rimac Nevera and Pininfarina Battista are identical cars, their aerodynamic performance is quite different. It is Battista who has become the fastest out of the two and is gaining popularity among the hypercar car aficionados. In its true Italian style, the car is simply more flamboyant than its more reserved Croatian sibling.
Pininfarina Battista records may not stand for long though and that explains why the company is trying to score as many as possible. The electric hypercar scene is becoming crowded with more new players joining the high-power game. Next in the line for records is
the Estrema Fulminea which set its sights on Nurburgring for now, but if it manages to clinch that title there will be nothing to stop it from going after Battista’s records.
