Pre-orders have just opened for Nissan's all-electric N7 sedan in China. The N7 is the first EV built on the company's advanced Tianyan Architecture. With an appealing starting price under RMB 200,000 (about $27,500), Nissan certainly has got the attention of families looking for an eco-friendly ride.
The Tianyan Architecture is designed to support various types of electric powertrains, including fully electric, plug-in hybrid, and extended-range electric vehicles. Nissan claims that the N7 benefits from this new platform with a 5% improvement in battery life thanks to its Cell-to-Body (CTB) battery technology.
On the outside, the Dongfeng-Nissan N7 clearly showcases Nissan's familiar "V-Motion" design. It features a smooth, closed front, a continuous light strip across the front, V-shaped fog lights, and a Nissan logo that lights up. If not for that logo, the N7 could be mistaken for the XPeng P7.
Looking at the side, the car has a sleek, fastback shape, doors without frames around the windows, hidden door handles that pop out, and large wheels. These design elements contribute to a very low drag coefficient of just 0.208Cd. At the back, a striking taillight design uses precisely 882 individual OLEDs that stretch across the width of the vehicle.
Classified as a medium-to-large sedan, the Nissan N7 offers plenty of space. It measures 194.1 inches in length, 74.6 inches in width, and 58.5 inches in height, with a long wheelbase of 114.8 inches. The car will be available in six different exterior colors: blue, silver, cyan, beige, white, and black.
The Nissan N7 comes with a choice of two electric motors, offering either 200 kW (268 horsepower) or 160 kW (215 horsepower). These motors are paired with either a 58 kWh or a 73 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. Nissan claims that the car offers a driving range of 317 miles to 395 miles, although the testing conditions for these figures are not specified. The N7 also supports fast charging, allowing drivers to add 249 miles of range in just under 20 minutes.
Inside, Nissan has focused on comfort and technology. Buyers can choose between two interior themes: light gray or a combination of forest green and snow white. The car runs on the Nissan OS system, powered by a fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip. This system includes an AI voice assistant connected to the DeepSeek-R1 model and supports popular smartphone integration systems like HiCar, Carlink, and CarPlay. The driver will see information on a full LCD instrument panel, and the center of the dashboard features a large 15.6-inch, high-resolution touchscreen.
Nissan is particularly proud of its "AI zero-pressure cloud seats." These seats are equipped with an impressive 49 sensors, which the company says is the most in the industry. These sensors allow the seats to automatically adjust to provide the best posture for the occupants. The seats also have 12 massage points for added comfort.
The trunk offers a storage capacity of 17.8 ft³. Other features include customizable ambient lighting with 256 colors, a sound system with 14 speakers, a 50W wireless phone charger, dual cup holders, a large panoramic sunroof, and even a refrigerator.
This new EV comes at a critical time for Nissan in China, where its sales have been declining for the past six years. In the first three months of 2025 alone, sales dropped by over 27% compared to the previous year. The company hopes that the family-friendly N7, with its attractive price and advanced features, will help reverse this trend. Customers who place a pre-order with a RMB 999 (about $140) deposit will receive a RMB 3,000 (just over $400) discount on the final price when the N7 officially launches on April 27th.
