Tesla has just rolled out its latest over-the-air software update, aptly named the "Spring Release." This latest release brings a host of new features and improvements to every Tesla model. The company frequently delivers smaller software tweaks, but this update bundles several functionalities into one comprehensive package.
Tesla owners are celebrating because the company is finally activating the Adaptive Headlights for vehicles in the United States and Canada. Previously available in Europe, this clever lighting system uses matrix headlights to automatically adjust the high beams. The system can selectively dim individual pixels, ensuring optimal visibility for the Tesla driver without causing glare for others. Owners of newer Tesla models equipped with the necessary hardware can now find this feature under the "Lights" section of the vehicle's control menu.
For owners of the refreshed Tesla Model S and Model X (produced between 2021 and 2025), the latest update introduces a more convenient placement for the Blind Spot Camera feed. This crucial safety feature now appears directly on the driver's main display, providing a clearer view of the vehicle's blind spots when signaling to change lanes.
Security and peace of mind receive a significant boost with upgrades to both the Dashcam and Sentry Mode systems. Newer Tesla Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y will now record footage from the side cameras located on the B-pillars. This bumps the total number of recorded camera angles from four to six, with a more comprehensive view of the vehicle's surroundings. The redesigned Dashcam Viewer app now features a user-friendly grid layout and intuitive swipe controls for reviewing video clips.
Tesla's Trip Planner also got an upgrade, offering drivers customizable routing options for their journeys. The system now provides clearer choices for different travel priorities. Drivers can select the "Fastest" route to minimize travel time, the "Best Amenities" option to prioritize charging stops near highly-rated restaurants, shops, and restrooms, or "Fewer Stops" to reduce the number of charging breaks.
Cybertruck owners are gaining a pair of Autopilot-related enhancements thanks to the update. The "Comfort Drive Mode" will now automatically engage when Autopilot is activated, in order to provide a smoother and more relaxed driving experience. The "Lane Departure Avoidance Assist" system has been upgraded beyond a simple warning. It can now gently steer the vehicle back into its lane if it detects an unintentional drift.
Apart from these key features, the "Spring Update" includes several smaller but still important improvements. A new "Avoid Highways" toggle has been added to the navigation controls, giving drivers more flexibility in route planning. The "Keep Accessory Power On" feature allows users to continue powering USB devices and phone chargers after exiting the vehicle, as long as the battery level remains above 20%.
The on-screen keyboard now supports language switching, and the media experience has been enhanced with filtered search options, shuffle functionality for larger Apple Music playlists, improved SiriusXM navigation, Amazon Music Free sign-in support, an "Up Next" view in YouTube Music, and automatic hotspot connection while driving.
