In a meeting in Wolfsburg, Germany, Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer revealed the company's plans to introduce new entry-level, small-sized, all-electric models. These are said to be produced at the Wolfsburg plant after Golf production was relocated to Mexico.
The automaker's CEO promised to introduce its cheapest fully electric vehicle at the beginning of March. The goal is to achieve an under-€20,000 price tag and be released in 2027. The vehicle will be produced in Europe for the European market.
Before this model, however, Volkswagen has the ID. 2all in the pipeline - another affordable compact EV with a sub-€25,000 price tag scheduled for a 2026 release. It will be based on the existing MEB platform and its home will also be the Wolfsburg plant.
In addition to those two models, the Wolfsburg plant should start building the next-generation all-electric Golfs and T-Roc models, both based on the brand-new SSP (Scalable System Platform).
