Zeekr, the premium electric vehicle subsidiary of Geely Holding Group, is launching an upgraded version of its 009 MPV. While the starting price has been increased with the equivalent of $140, the new Zeekr 009 comes packed with previously optional features as standard, making it arguably better value for money.
The updated Zeekr 009, originally introduced on November 1, 2022, as the company's second model after the Zeekr 001, is set to hit the roads in February 2023.
The Zeekr 009 was initially available in two variants, the WE and ME, priced at RMB 499,000 and RMB 588,000, respectively. With the updated version, the starting price for the WE model has increased to RMB 500,000 ($70,350), while the ME version price remains unchanged at RMB 588,000 ($82,700).
The core specifications of the Zeekr 009 remain unchanged, both the WE and ME versions are equipped with Li-ion ternary batteries. The WE version boasts a 116 kWh battery pack, while the ME version is powered by a formidable 140 kWh Qilin Battery, released in June 2022 by CATL. These batteries provide ranges of 436 miles and 511 miles, respectively.
One of the most significant improvements in the new Zeekr 009 is the inclusion of previously optional features as standard. Customers can now enjoy digital rearview mirrors, a power-adjustable steering wheel, a front passenger seat comfort package, and double-pane acoustic glass for the third row without any extra cost.
Zeekr has been making waves in the electric car market with its swift product launches and impressive sales figures. Just nine months after the initial launch, the company introduced the revamped Zeekr X, eliminating the lower-priced entry version while retaining two other variants at more affordable prices.
In December, Zeekr achieved a record-breaking milestone by delivering 13,476 vehicles, bringing the total deliveries for 2023 to an impressive 118,685 units. The Zeekr 009 delivered 2,310 units in December alone and a remarkable 19,210 units throughout the year. Looking ahead, Zeekr has ambitious plans for 2024. The company aims to double its deliveries, targeting an impressive 230,000 vehicles for the year.
